McKinsey & Company
McKinsey is one of the world’s largest management consulting firms with advisory practices in virtually every industry sector, including real estate. While not a direct real estate group, McKinsey is known for their industry leading analysis on a variety of business trends (McKinsey Global Institute, the research-only arm of the company is a regular contributor on LinkedIn). Lately, the company’s focus has been on technology and business operations, with direct parallels for real estate. Urban Land Institute
ULI is one of the world’s largest non-profit real estate, development, urban planning and design associations focused on industry research and education. Their multifaceted focus, ranging from capital markets to urban sustainability, serves as a great resource for any person looking to stay ahead of the latest industry trends. Also part of their LinkedIn page are regular articles from their global magazine, Urban Land. Case studies on specific projects or neighborhoods are of particular interest.
Technology for Commercial Real Estate
With a more formal focus on the latest trends shaping the commercial real estate industry, Technology for Commercial Real Estate is a great source on what some of the most progressive companies are doing in the fields related to technology and property. With over 9,000 members in the group, the content stays relevant and up to date. Beyond trends, the group also focuses on emerging companies and their entrepreneurial leaders.
MSCI Inc Real Estate
MSCI globally is a company focused on investment data, research and benchmarking with many of their indexes being used in the public equities markets. The firm also has an established and growing real estate arm, and this particular group on LinkedIn provides CRE professionals with a great lens into major real estate capital market and investment trends occurring globally. Part of their expertise in real estate investment is the ability to leverage their internal market performance data and research—something they gather through their work with clients among which are some the world’s largest institutional real estate investors.
