Open Position - Vice President of Sales

4tell™ Solutions, LP is looking for an experienced, creative and dynamic sales leader; an ambitious change agent to set sales tempo, develop process and infrastructure, drive sales to close and ultimately scale revenue. Working directly for the CEO, the VP of Sales will have primary responsibility for overall sales in North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the executive team, the VP of Sales will be responsible for driving sales strategy and revenue generation. S/He will also be responsible for working with both the Sales team and the broader company to build a scalable and repeatable sales infrastructure.
  • The VP of Sales role begins with actively generating significant revenue during the remainder of 2015. S/He is expected to accomplish this goal by closing his/her own accounts and effectively managing our sales efforts and sales team, by supporting efforts to close accounts already in the pipeline, updating and improving sales processes and pitch-craft, honing team skills, and improving reporting for sales activity, pipeline and performance metrics.
  • The VP will be responsible for defining a plan for scaling the sales team. This effort will include; defining future team structure, spearheading recruiting efforts, refining training processes, developing sales metrics that drive the organization, crafting a more rigorous approach to professional channel sales and management and process improvement on sales operations.
 

Experience and Attributes of the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a pivotal player with at least five (5) years of relevant B2B SaaS sales experience, in a start-up entrepreneurial environment, with experience in real estate portfolio management, project management, asset management, energy efficiency and/or workplace management and related technology solutions. The ideal candidate has a proven track record as a seller-doer, with a relationship based selling style, is highly motivated with excellent attention to detail and has successfully built a sales organization. The successful candidate is someone who thrives in the excitement of growing a company into maturity, is able to define new processes, implement change and embraces the dynamism of a high growth start-up. Key attributes include:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years selling SaaS, knowledge of IWMS, CMMS, EAM, BAS, Capital Planning or related systems helpful
  • History of leadership roles in sales at one or more early stage (pre $2M revenue), track record of scaling revenue in that role
  • Proven experience spearheading the development of a repeatable and scalable sales process
  • Experienced in direct transactional sales, as well as managing professional channel sales
  • Flexible team player; comfortable with shared responsibility in small team environment
  • Leads by example – closes own deals actively, drives team and individual accountability
  • Experience delivering management level analyses and opinions/recommendations to senior executive
  • Understanding of industry best practices of core sales operations functions including territory design & planning, compensation design, quota setting, and business analytics
  • Comfortable in strategic discussions with other functions of the company – marketing, engineering, technology, customer success
  • Logical and numerate - comfortable operating in a data-driven management structure with sound understanding of and ability to track and communicate critical SaaS sales measures
  • Solid manager, with experience in recruiting, hiring, training and managing a sales team
  • Effective oral and written communicator; able to develop sales content as needed
  • Capable of working independently with little guidance
  • Ability to travel extensively

In Addition:

  • Works with the executive team to set the company’s sales direction
  • Work with the CEO and the executive team to develop sales and business development strategies
  • Conduct and assist with financial feasibility studies and develop proposals for growth and revenue targets
  • Negotiate sales and business development transactions including licenses, subscription agreements, transaction agreements and partnerships
  • Track and review actual results versus plan and forecast for monitoring sales and business performance and compliance
  • Synthesize and articulate key findings as appropriate for marketing, operations, finance, product development and executive audiences
  • Conduct business analyses and manage content creation for corporate strategy presentations and board packages
 

Working with Us:

4tell™’s has offices in Portland, ME and Toronto Canada. Many of our employees are remote. This position is geographically flexible with a preference to a central hub in Boston, MA, Philadelphia, PA or Washington, DC. No relocation is provided and remote candidates are considered. Domestic travel is expected to be 60% or more.

Compensation is competitive, and composed of base salary, standard 4tell™ benefits, and commission. This role reports directly to the CEO.
