Case Study - Corporate
Mattson, Real Estate Developer
4tell™ partnered with Mattson, a large scale real estate developer with over $200 million in commercial and residential assets. Mattson always considers energy alternatives to the “status quo” in order to realize and achieve measurable success in meeting the evolving goals of corporate social responsibility. |
Recognizing this need, Mattson uses 4tell™'s Sustainable Performance Governance Solution, iPlan™, to help them improve their performance along energy, environmental, financial and social dimensions to achieve sustainable asset governance. Mattson’s approach to the analysis of energy data and identifying energy conservation measures is a top-down and bottom-up analysis of energy usage through the iPlan™ Energy Governance Solution.
The energy assessment and analysis was for 100,000 square feet of commercial building space at Island Point located in Saco, Maine. Specifically designed energy related data was collected from the facility to support detailed energy analysis modeling and performance reporting for energy and water conservation measures which included:
- Lighting, type and coverage
- Heating, type and area serviced
- Cooling, type and area serviced
- Ventilation, type
- Domestic water, method of heating, capacity, storage
The collected data was then populated into the iPlan™ Energy Governance solution to support the reporting and analysis requirements of the defined energy assessment project. Integrated and embedded in the iPlan™ platform is the Facility Energy Decision System (FEDS) which is an energy analysis model designed to provide a comprehensive approach to fuel neutral, technology independent, integrated energy resource planning and acquisition. The energy analysis forms the foundation for improving the financial, energy, and environmental performance of Mattson portfolio buildings and sites, and as a result, allows Mattson to:
- Reduce cost of planning energy investments for building portfolios
- Improve energy and emissions performance
- Merge energy investment decision making with overall business planning process
- Match capital funds with energy savings opportunities
- Report on energy investment performance to stakeholders
